Social goal reached! NEW STORY UNLOCKED!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 24, 2020 at 11:52:53 AM

We did it again! The social goal hit 100 shares/comments/retweets today, which means Issue #0 officially has 5 shorts in it now. We are excited for you all to meet Maggie Thorne when you get the comic in your hands.

To further add to the excitement, here are some thumbnail sketches Patrick is working on for both The Rats on the Wharf and The Three Faces of God (so we better hit the first stretch goal to get that one too!).

We have a little over a week left, so keep spreading the word far and wide to anyone and everyone so we can get this comic funded and make it 6 shorts total!

100 backers and $2500! NEW STORY UNLOCKED
over 5 years ago – Sat, Aug 22, 2020 at 09:02:31 AM

What an amazing day for the campaign! We hit the 100 backer mark, officially unlocking the Rats on the Wharf story! We already had someone take the Freshly Reanimated Fan Level so they will be the main character of that short.

Patrick has already started on this one, so expect some sneak peeks soon. We are also getting awfully close to hitting the social goal for Fear Factory, so keep sharing, retweeting, and commenting so we can officially make this comic 5 horror shorts!

We also crossed $2500, bringing us well within striking distance of the funding goal, with 11 days left. Let's do this!

Check out these other cool projects I backed this week:

Love at First Bite

LOVE AT FIRST BITE is a darkly comedic and uninhibited parody of modern dating with a vampire twist. Written by Gabe Cheng and illustrated by Elisa Meneghel entirely during the COVID19 lockdown, this nine page one-shot is packed with humor, heart, and an army of pint-sized vampire imps.

But most importantly ... all of the pages are completely finished! LOVE AT FIRST BITE is ready to print as soon as this campaign ends.

The O.Z.

Decades ago, when a young girl defeated the Wicked Witch of the West, she said farewell to the magical land of Oz… but unwittingly plunged the country in a vicious power vacuum leading to years of brutal civil war. But a generation later, the name of Dorothy Gale lives on in her granddaughter, an Iraq war veteran grappling with disillusionment and PTSD — yet when a tornado strikes Dorothy’s quiet Kansas town, this former soldier finds herself in the war-torn battlefield known only as The O.Z. Forced to navigate warring factions led by the Tin Soldier, the Scarecrow, and the Courageous Lion, Dorothy must come to terms with her legacy and her past if she ever hopes to bring peace to the Occupied Zone.

That's it for this update! Stay tuned!

Two weeks left!
over 5 years ago – Mon, Aug 17, 2020 at 12:41:29 PM

As always, thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far! We have about two weeks left in the campaign and we are sitting at 70% funded with 92 backers!

Social Goal/Backer Milestone Updates

Currently, we have 48 RTs on Twitter and 15 shares on Facebook. That means only 2 more RTs needed, but 35 more shares on Facebook. Because we have more luck on Twitter anyway, I am changing this up to be 100 combined between the two! We really want to get Maggie in this book.

To further help this one out, I will count comments on the Kickstarter page toward the 100 number as well. So we only need 37 more RTs, shares, and Kickstarter comments.

As for the Backer Milestone, we only need 8 more backers to add that short to the comic! Tell your friends who might be interested in backing this project. It'll get you more content!

Kinetic Kickstarter

I have had the pleasure of chatting with Bill at various conventions and even showing up on his podcast a few months back. He just launched a cool Kickstarter for the next issue of Kinetic!

Kinetic: Identities #1 picks up where the story left off.  When a villain from his past is up to his old tricks, it's up to Johnny to save the day!

But is Kinetic a match for the villains when this time, they're ready for him?!

If you are a card-carrying Kinetic VIP, welcome back!  But if this is your first time hearing about this series, don't worry, I've got you covered.  You don't have to have know anything to read and enjoy this issue, and I've also got plenty of catch-up tiers to get you up to speed.

Another update incoming at 100 backers!

Social goal updates, Kickstarter roundup and more!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 14, 2020 at 06:14:57 AM

We currently have $1818 raised from 72 backers, with three weeks left! This has been an exciting first ten days, thank you all so much!

Some quick updates:

Fear Factory: Social Stretch Goal

We are currently sitting at 43 Retweets, and 12 Facebook shares.

To help out, here is a link to the tweet, and to the Facebook post.

Remember, we are shooting for 50/50 to unlock this short!

*New* Backer Milestone

We currently have 72 backers. When we hit 100, we will be adding a new 2 page short tentatively titled The Rats on the Wharf. Keep spreading the word to make this happen! (And yes, for those counting, this brings the total potential number of shorts in the comic up to 6, and puts the page count in the mid 30's).

Kickstarter Roundup

I want to take a moment to highlight a few other awesome Kickstart projects that we have had the pleasure of backing recently!

Death Kanji

Death Kanji is an 80-page, full-color Samurai Horror Graphic Novel.

With its roots in the short stories of HP Lovecraft and the films of Akira Kurosawa, Death Kanji tells the story of a samurai’s struggle to maintain his duty and honor when terrifying knowledge comes to light. It is a story about how we view the unknown, and our reactions to creatures and concepts that we do not fully understand.

Only 2 hours left on this one! Get in now. Back it here.

Next Door

Next Door looks like a really fun project that has already gotten fully funded and has had some great press so far.

It's 30+ pages of crime comics meets the housing crisis, told through the dual perspective of a trendy privileged couple moving into an "up and coming" neighborhood...and the long-time residents they're pushing out. This neo-noir tale has hints of The Dregs, some BTTM FDRS, and just a bit of Stray Bullets.

Back it here.

The Seer Chronicles: Family Matters

This Kickstarter is for Issue #2 of the Seer Chronicles, as well as a remastered Issue #1. It's from a really cool team that does a lot to lift up the indie comic community! Here's their blurb:

The Seer Chronicles: Family Matters is issue 2 of our graphic novel, The Seer Chronicles. Action, adventure, mysteries, and discoveries can be found in this issue. However, we aren't just giving you issue 2 of this! 🤨 We also have decided to remaster Issue 1 which has added details and a better flow than before. That means MORE PAGES TO READ! 🤯

Back it here.

That's it for today. Keep spreading the word! Let's not only make this comic a reality but let's expand it to six shorts of mind-altering horror!

New reward tier and another Kickstarter worth checking out!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 14, 2020 at 06:14:51 AM

We are currently sitting at 82 backers! To celebrate the imminent addition of another short, we are adding the ULTIMATE backer tier. The newly added Freshly Reanimated Fan level gets you all of the physical rewards (every cover) and you are drawn into Issue #0 as the protagonist of the Backer Milestone short, The Rats on the Wharf.

It goes without saying that there is only one of these, so snatch it while you can!

In other news, here is another sweet comic Kickstarter that I backed today, which also started as a webcomic:

Binary Star

What happens when the bounty hunter becomes the hunted...?

Zaki Zahir, a hot-tempered ex-soldier, couldn't believe the price of the bounty on the head of the alien outlaw whose WANTED poster flashed across her ship's screen — and the screens of every other bounty hunter in the galaxy. Now it's a race to see who can capture the elusive "snowman" and cash his prize before anyone else can.

At long last, Jamie Primack, the creator of BINARY STAR Vol. 1, is back with an all-new Kickstarter that aims to bring Vol. 2 of this grungy sci-fi epic to print in a 136-page trade paperback and hardcover book. She also hopes this Kickstarter can fund the printing of the Second Edition hardcover release of Vol. 1.

The art for this looks gorgeous, and you can get it in a stunning black and white hardcover for both Vol. 1 + 2. Please check it out and continue to support indie creators!

Back it here.

That's all for now! Don't forget the original cover is up for grabs, and let your local comic shops know we have a retailer level (10 copies, incl. all variants for only $50).
